On a trip to Spain several years back, we drove from Seville to Pueblos Blancos. We had to go over a high, rugged range of hills patterned with olive groves and dusty groupings of cork trees. The higher we climbed, the hotter the sun became. We dropped down into terraces of dry golden grass decorated with a mosaic of the most colorful wild flowers we had ever seen. An old decaying barn with a red tile roof completed the composition. We felt refreshed and rewarded.
